Amir Khan (born Amir Iqbal Khan on 8 December 1986 in Bolton, Greater Manchester[1]), also known as King Khan,[2][3] is a British boxer of Pakistani descent who is currently the unified IBF and WBA world light-welterweight champion.[4] Khan won the WBA belt at the age of 22, making him Britain's third-youngest world champion after Naseem Hamed and Herbie Hide. As of 11 July 2011, he is ranked #14 in the Sports Illustrated pound for pound top 15 list, where he is the youngest on the list as well as the highest ranking from Western Europe.[5]
He was previously in the lightweight division, where he held the Commonwealth, WBO Inter-Continental and WBA International titles. He also became the youngest British Olympic boxing medallist when he won silver at the 2004 Athens Olympics at the age of 17.[3]
